What Are Some Cool Chicken Names?
It’s amazing how often I hear someone ask what some cool names are for chickens - but it really depends on what you think is ‘cool’.
There are some classic or common names that I see or hear being used more often, Believe it or not, these are usually old lady or traditional names like Betty, Doris, Elsie, and names like those.
I don’t know why, but old lady names just seem to suit hens. I’m sure there is a joke in there somewhere, but I can’t quite think of it.
If you’re interested in these kinds of names over unique or funny ones, check out this List of Old Lady Chicken Names.
But when it comes to a cool name, it really comes down to what you think is cool. Something that suits your personality, and that of your chickens'.
What Is the Best Chicken Name?
I wish there was one best name for a chicken, it would make naming a chicken a whole lot easier.
Or would it?
If there was a ‘best’ name, then it would become really popular and it would no longer be the best name, right?
I can tell you what some of the most common names are that people name their chickens. Through research and experience, I would say some of the most common chicken names are:
- Henrietta
- Ethel
- Dixie
- Nora
- Fluffy
- Nugget
- Noodle
- Elvis
- Cluck Norris
- Bella
- Daisie
- Dolly
I think you get the idea. A mix of chicken or egg-related puns and old lady names are typically the most common choices.
All I can do is wish you good luck and hope that you do not get stuck mulling over names for too long.
Remember, it’s a fun process naming chickens or any pets. Try not to get too stressed!
